I’ve promised myself that I won’t get all sappy and predictable. But I have to take at least a brief moment to acknowledge my eldest child’s 21st birthday and I’m going to do that by sharing what I most appreciate about her.
On more than one occasion, she and I have shared the stage in theatrical productions, the most recent experience coming in the fall of 2011. I’m honored that she is willing to get on stage and perform with me!
She’s crazy good at cutting/styling/coloring hair and I’m totally geeked that she’s working on getting things underway to get her cosmetology license in Texas where she is now living (she’s already certified in Iowa!). I have no clue where she got that skill from because it certainly isn’t me!
She’s got a great sense of style.
She isn’t afraid to speak her mind.
She was brave enough to move 18 hours away from her parents to try and “start her own life”.
She loves her siblings enough to get frustrated with them when she sees them being foolish/stupid/(fill in the blank) and will let them know. At least she cares!
She’s fiercely in love with her cousins and will take down ANYONE who tries to harm them.
Life changes when you have kids and it is NEVER easy to be a parent. But I’m so grateful that when God was choosing parents for this particular young lady, he chose my husband and I!
Esther, I love you and can’t wait to see where life takes you next!
