What’s in a Name?

I might be the only weirdo who does this, but when I stumble across a blog or website with a really clever name, I wonder how they came up with that particular idea.  In my case, I didn’t really come up with it on my own.

The very first time anyone called me “Mama Jo”, I didn’t like the sound of it.  Or so I thought.  The truth was, I had an issue with the kid using that nickname.  He wasn’t exactly a good guy and he was *deep breath* dating my daughter.  Ugh.

Then a young lady I consider one of “my kids” used that nickname at a rehearsal for a production of “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” that I was directing at the local high school.  From her it was adorable.  And it stuck.  That show was in the Spring of 2011 and that young lady was a Senior that year.  But each year, it shows back up again; passed down from upperclassmen to freshmen.  And frankly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

So a shift in focus for my blog needed a new name that really summed up what I wanted to take about.  And it’s all the stuff that makes my heart happy.  Pretty simple when you think about it.

So there it is – “Mama Jo’s Heart”.  It’s not my first blog – I’ve transferred stuff from an old blog over to this one so feel free to “look around” – but it’s definitely the right move to sort of redirect my focus.

Welcome to the new blog!
